Why DAQ

Hin Daeng (Red Rock) and Hin Muang (Purple Rock) are two of the best sites for scuba diving in Thailand. Situated in Mu Koh Lanta National Park about 100 km (62 miles) south of Phuket, these sites are almost impossible to explore fully without taking a liveaboard trip. They are ranked even higher than the famous Similan Islands and Richelieu Rock and are home to some of the most spectacular marine life in the world.

Because Hin Daeng and Hin Muang dive sites are deeper and prone to currents, this Thailand diving trip is only suitable for experienced divers. With stunning scuba diving throughout the season, divers have a great chance of seeing both whale sharks and manta rays, as well as a colorful array of shoaling fish, pelagic schools, and plenty of macro critters. Although only a short distance away, the diving on offer at Hin Daeng and Hin Muang is different from what you’ll experience on our Similan Islands liveaboard, South Andaman Liveaboard, Koh Lipe Liveaboard, or Myanmar Liveaboard.

The topography of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang is unique. Hin Daeng resembles the tip of an iceberg breaking the surface. The southern side of the reef is covered in red broccoli corals and drops sharply to around 70 meters, whereas the northern slope is more gentle. Hin Muang is a long slender ridge-like reef starting at about 10 meters below the surface and is covered with stunning anemones.  Several peaks descend like giant stepping stones down to around 20-22 meters.  Walls covered with corals plunge 60 meters to the ocean floor.

Had an absolute blast on the Deep Andaman Queen on a trip to Burma. Steve and the crew run a tight ship and the captain is very skilled at getting you to the right drop site for your dives. Not only one of the best diving experiences of my life but one of the greatest adventures so far.

Filippo Marelli, 23 Jan 2018 -

Perfect organization, good rooms and excellent crew: they'll do anything they can to help. It was my first time on a liveboard and I had a really good time; hopefully I will be on the boat again next year!

- Nancy Lyndhurst, 30 Dec 2018 -

The excellent crew, dive guides and food more than make up for some of the pre arrival experiences and uncomfy beds. Some Crew, are forced to sleep on sun deck which limits use at night. Great trip though!

My first Liveaboard was extraordinary with Steve and his incredible crew! This was also my very first trip to Thailand, although my week was spent on the boat, I couldnt have had a better time! When we boarded the boat on Day 1, Steve, head hancho (rightfully so) welcomes us with a much appreciated briefing. During the briefing we met each other, we were all very diverse and from all around the world. We also met the crew (Rockstars of the boat)! Steve then set us up for the week and talked us through every detail you can think of, idk how he remembers all this! He was so comprehensive, thorough and entertaining. Not only did Steve help to set our expectations, the entire week he helped us have fun, keep safe and make the very most from our trip. I’m also his biggest fan bc he was diligent about helping me get my regulators back after I left them on the minibus after the trip. This was 100% my fault, but immediately after I contacted him worried sick, he had located them for me by the time I boarded my plane home. 🙌🏻

We had 6 days 4 nights liveaboard cruise at Similan and Surin Island on New Year's Eve. Steve and the staff organized a party with presents for everyone and fireworks. Everything was very well organized onboard and the staff were very efficient and pleasant, always willing to help. Lot of food after every dive (4 dives a day) and free drinks and snacks at all times. The cabin was small but comfortable with hot water and air conditioning. Steve gave us very detailed briefings to make sure that we could dive safely and comfortably. All diving equipments are in good shape.  Great divings especially around Richelieu Rock where we got to see the whale shark and much more!

Jane Pegg, 10 Nov 2018

Amazing first liveaboard for my husband and I. So appreciated the excellent organization as well as the attentiveness and support of ALL the staff on board. And the extraordinary luxuries like post dive smoothies and warm facecloths! Food amazing-and plentiful. We especially liked the emphasis to respect and take care of the incredible marine environment we are so lucky to be able to enjoy. Gear and dive support/safety top notch. Thanks also for finding me all the cool nudibranchs Steve! (And the whale shark-I like the big things too!)

- Amy MacLucas, 11 Dec 2018 -

I had an absolutely brilliant time on the Similans trip. I've been out on DAQ twice now; first time just snorkelling, second time diving. The crew and dive staff are incredible, the trip felt really well organised and the team couldn't do enough to help.

- Kongpu M, 3 Dec 2018 -

Best route from Similan Thailand to Black rock Myanmar. Fantastic UW scene which you could be choose. For 7 days 8 nights rides with friendly crews that’s make your vacation on this liveaboard will be unforgettable.

- Mandy Pearson, 9 Feb 2018 -

What a fantastic crew, if your going to do a liveaboard, this is the one. Everyone is brilliant and go out of their way to make sure you have the best experience you can.
